NHS DORSET CLINICAL COMMISSIONING GROUP
Integrated Transport for Non Emergency Patient Transport Service
NHS Dorset's Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) would like to invite qualified providers to help develop an integrated transport system service model for Dorset.
The CCG is working with Bournemouth Borough Council, Dorset County Council and the Borough of Poole to investigate the potential to join-up transport commissioning and provision between the NHS and Local Authorities.
Each organisation commissions and/or provides a significant amount of transport.
The CCG commissions Non-Emergency Patient Transport Services (NEPTS) for eligible patients for some clinical appointments.
Co-ordination with other forms of transport need to be considered: • Ambulance Services - Commissioned by the CCGs as part of a South West regional contract.
These services will not be part of any integrated transport system for NEPTS however there will be interaction between these forms of transport for patients • Mental Health Transport - Commissioned by the CCG/Local Authorities dependent on need and degree of urgently.
Secure mental health transport is currently provided by a preferred private provider for the CCG. • Social Care Transport (Adults & Children - including Home to School) - Commissioned and/or provided by Local Authorities. • Community Transport Services - These services are self-supporting with some grant funding available from local authorities. • Public Transport Services - These services are generally operated by commercial transport operators, sometimes subsidised by the Local Authorities.
