The brief

Cambridge City Council has 9 indoor Sheltered Housing schemes spread across the city, which providing housing and support to older people.

Sheltered housing, is predominantly, for people aged over 60 who wish to carry on living independently but who require some support in order to do so.

Our vision is to maximise opportunities for older people to live self-sufficiently by providing good quality accommodation.

To provide support in line with individuals needs and to offer activities and social events helping prevent social isolation and to encourage active ageing.

All of the flats within the schemes are either one or two bedrooms, with their own kitchen, bathroom and living areas.

The flats are all contained under one roof and have communal facilities such as a communal lounge, with individual flats leading out onto internal corridors.

The communal areas in each scheme are mostly carpeted.

This contract is to provide the cleaning of the communal carpets in each scheme, on a yearly basis.
