The British Horological Institute - Conservation Architect including Principal Designer and Interior Design Services
This sits in the upper-middle of the Engineering & Architecture band — a substantial contract for the sector. Based on 33,646 valued Engineering & Architecture tenders in our corpus.
The British Horological Institute (BHI) is looking to appoint an experience Conservation Architect to help to develop the £4.9 million ‘Saving Time’ project.
The Saving Time project includes: Restoration of the existing Stable Block and Glasshouse to house the National Centre for Horology.
Repair and restoration of the Upton Hall West Wing, including the creation of a new glazed entrance atrium, to allow it to be used commercially for functions, events, weddings and the like. - The facility will include training workshops, student facilities, BHI offices, an education space, collection display spaces and visitor facilities.
External infrastructure enhancements to support the above, including 50 new parking spaces.
BHI have recently secured a Heritage Lottery Fund Round 1 award to develop the Saving Time project.
The design is developed to RIBA Stage 1 level of detail and the initial consultancy appointments will be to support the client in realising a HLF Round 2 submission.
This development stage will require creation of a RIBA Stage 2 design, RIBA Stage 3 design and statutory authority application.
Funding for the development stage is already in place.
It is BHI’s intention to retain the successful Conservation Architect for the implementation stage but this is contingent upon securing the full HLF award and the matched funding package being realised.
The Conservation Architect will be the Lead Designer, Principal Designer and Interior Designer for all stages.
The Client is also considering utilising the Conservation Architect to undertake the Contract Administration role during the implementation stage and an extra over fee will be requested for this service as part of the tender response (not included in the lowest/highest fee value figures)
