The brief

A sustainable health and education programme to help transform school meals and food education in schools and communities, as part of the Leicestershire Healthy Schools Programme.

The aim is to give pupils and their families the skills and knowledge needed to cook, grow and enjoy good quality, affordable food, as well as increasing understanding of where food comes from.

The programme should use food to engage the community and improve the whole school experience, making lunchtimes a positive feature of the day and enriching classroom learning with farm visits, practical cooking and growing.

The aim of the programme is to give schools the tools they need to make long term changes to their food culture and their curriculum to support healthy behaviours.

The programme will be available to every school in Leicestershire.

The contract is being offered for an initial period of 12 months, with the option to extend for up to a further 24 months.
