Channel 4 Re-licensing research
This is a contract result notice, not an open opportunity. Details from the official award data.
This sits in the upper-middle of the Business Services band — a substantial contract for the sector. Based on 57,319 valued Business Services tenders in our corpus.
On 11 March 2014, Ofcom announced that Channel 4 Corporation's (C4C) licence would be renewed for a 10-year period, and is due to expire on 28 December 2024.
Following the Government's decision not to privatise C4C, Ofcom will be undertaking its statutory process of renewing the licence where we will determine the appropriate conditions for a replacement licence and the duration of the new licence.
Ofcom will be consulting on our proposals for the conditions of the C4C's new licence in autumn 2023.
There has been a significant change in media habits and how audiences consume content over the last 10 years - the way audiences are watching content, who they are watching with and the devices they are watching on.
This has made it harder for public service broadcasters (PSBs) to compete for audiences and maintain their current offering.
New research is required to explore audiences attitudes of the services provided by C4C, how people see its purpose in the society and whether their expectations have changed since the current licence was issued.
