The brief

Derbyshire County Council is responsible for providing the coroner services for the jurisdiction of Derbyshire and Derby It is therefore seeking bids for the provision of an effective toxicology service which will support HM Senior Coroner for Derbyshire and Derby.

The contract is for the collection of samples from the two mortuaries in the jurisdiction of Derbyshire and Derby, undertaking of required tests and production of formal reports on test result to the HM Senior Coroner.

Toxicologists may be required to attend inquests to provide witness testimony if required to do so by HM Senior Coroner for Derbyshire and Derby.

The author of the Toxicology Report must be externally accredited by either the Clinical Pathology Accreditation (CPA) or UKAS and operate in accordance with ISO 17025:2005 and at least one member of the toxicology unit must be medically qualified.
