The brief

The Authority is looking for a supplier to measure Airborne Particle Concentrations and Numbers in the UK.

The network provides the national monitoring arrangements including those areas covered by the Scottish Government, Welsh Government and Department of the Environment in Northern Ireland, collectively known as the Devolved Administrations (DA).

However, the Contract is let by the Authority on behalf of Central Government and the DAs.

The primary objectives of this contract are to maintain the measurement and monitoring arrangements using instrumentation and analytical procedures to understand the composition of PM.

To provide the PM2.5 Elemental Carbon and Organic Carbon data required by the AQD2008.

To identify and develop new technical and geographical opportunities for measuring fine and ultrafine particles in the UK.

To recommend and implement any developments of the measurement programme and instrumentation that the Authority may wish to pursue and to analyse data from the network, and information from other available sources, to improve understanding of the characteristics and behaviour of particulate matter in the UK.
