The brief

This project is a review of the existing evidence base on the role and effectiveness of various interventions enabling the design and adoption of healthy, low-carbon meal choices in hospital - or reasonably comparable - catering settings.

The resulting report will help support trusts' efforts to revise their menus, to make them healthier and more sustainable, and so help the service reach its net zero carbon ambitions.

It will help inform later phases of work to support the provision and uptake of healthy, low carbon meal choices in NHS hospitals, including the development of any guidance or support tools for trusts.
