Events hire strategy development
As with all local authorities Southwark Council is facing significant budget reductions over the next few years and is looking to increase income through various means.
Increasing the amount of commercial, private and ticketed events in our parks and open spaces is something we would like to look into in more detail.
Our ambition is that we continue to provide our annual programme of free events for our residents but that the service should become self-financing by 2019.
We are carrying out some market testing by looking for a engaging and experienced individuals or organisations to develop and create a five year event hires strategy that balances community activity with an increased amount of commercial activity and income generation.
The strategy will be built on the aspiration of the political leadership and reflect discussions and feedback from officers, residents, event producers, partners, stakeholders and health and safety agencies.
We are looking for an individual or organisation to: • Work with the council to understanding the detail of our aspirations. • Develop and deliver a programme of consultation with local stakeholders, residents, community and commercial events producers, officers and appropriate agencies and partners. • Identify and develop opportunities for income generation through opening our parks and open spaces to commercial, private and ticketed events. • Review resources and investment required to deliver the strategy. • Develop and write the five year strategy and action plan.
If you are interested or know anyone who may be interested please read the attached brief and submit your expression of interest to us by 2pm on Tuesday 12 January 2015 to events@southwark.gov.uk
