The brief

Establish, build and lead a new team at pace to support all aspects of the delivery of the NI programme.

Working with the NI equivalent department of Defra - DAERA - to support the establishment of permanent infrastructure at points of entry and other delivery requirements in Northern Ireland for the completion of checks of Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) goods as they enter NI, Working with Defra's digital and SPS colleagues and aligning with work led by the DD for Food Sector Support to deliver the Defra components of an end-to-end digitised approach to processing the movement and trade of agrifood commodities GB to NI.

Working with the relevant programme SROs, to ensure the operational requirements of new regulatory regimes for vet meds, chemicals, pesticides and other Defra highly regulated goods are delivered, including new information management systems as required.

Scoping and supporting the delivery and further delivery requirements under the programme as required.

A critical part of this role will be to build effective relationships and ways of working with the other teams in the Northern Ireland Directorate, DAERA and the other relevant delivery teams in Defra (e.g.

SPS IT team).

You will also be a member of the NI directorate senior management team.

As such, you will regularly deputise for the Director, and work with senior stakeholders across Government and in Northern Ireland.
