The brief

A Tri-Partite Agreement with the Environment Agency and Portsmouth Water Ltd.

A Partnership has existed between the Parties since July 2009 that has provided a programme of events, services and advice to farmers and land managers to reduce diffuse water pollution from agriculture (DWPA).

The Partnership will continue to operate until and unless circumstances require its dissolution.

The advice principally involves that provided by the Project Manager, 1:1 advice from specialist contractors, and via meetings and workshops involving expert speakers.

The emphasis on tackling nitrate remains but attention is still given to sediment, phosphate, pesticides and other pollutants, such as hydrocarbons.

The project will also continue to promote Countryside Stewardship, in particular the water capital items and appropriate land management options to address water quality available via mid-tier Countryside Stewardship, in order to support farm infrastructure changes and land management measures to reduce DWPA.

The Catchment Partnership will maintain delivery of the aims and objective of all Parties through the use of the combined resources and expertise of the party organisations; Portsmouth Water will remain responsible for project co-ordination on behalf of all Parties.
