NHS East and North Hertfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group (ENHCGG) sought to commission Vasectomy services for their population.
Vasectomy was previously jointly procured with Herts Valleys Clinical Commissioning Group (HVCCG).
This Service Specification has been adapted from that of the previous AQP Vasectomy Service Specification.
Following the end of the ENHCCG and HVCCG Vasectomy contracts in December 2017 this document will be adopted as the new and updated service specification for new Providers, with ENHCCG acting as sole commissioner.
The estimated Total contract value excluding VAT is £365,310k over 36 months.
The service will provide high quality, cost effective, local vasectomy services for ENHCCG which will; - Provide services that comply with accepted best practice in line with national and local guidance, relevant accreditations processes, relevant guidelines in clinical practice and robust governance arrangements. - Provide a complete holistic Service User focused care package including pre and post-operative care, semen analysis, information, advice and counselling. - Ensure effective and efficient communication between health professionals to support consistent and continuous care. - Improve access and convenience for Service Users. - Improve Service User choice.
The service will provide high quality and safe two stage, no-scalpel vasectomy under local anaesthetic in accordance with The Faculty of Sexual & Reproductive Healthcare of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologist (RCOG) guidelines (2014).
This service will be accessible to all adult males who request it, are of sound mind, not acting under external duress and are registered with a General Practitioner (GP) in East and North Hertfordshire.

The Provider will be responsible for providing quality assurance of any partner organisation delivering semen analysis.
The contract duration term is 36 months plus an option to extend for an additional 24 months (maximum of a 5 year contract).The total contract value for 60 months is estimated at £608,850k.
