The brief

The objective of the Definition phase is to enhance our understanding of the current and future impact that planned events will have on the strategic road network (SRN) and Greater Manchester transport network.

This will enable us to be in a better position to define and evaluate our influence in how we can support seamless journeys in Greater Manchester over RIS3 and RIS4.

The project should focus on innovative strategies rather than traditional infrastructure improvements like expanding road capacity, which are constrained by road space availability, cost, and environmental factors.

The recommendations made from the project will have the potential to pave the way forward in how NH and TfGM can collaboratively improve network integration and the enablement of seamless journeys for planned events.

The outcomes from this project will have universal applicability to other planned events.

The use case of MUFC home games for this project could easily be transposed to other planned events both in Manchester and other cities.
