The brief

PLEASE NOTE: The closing date for this notice has been extended to 06/09/2024.

Following recent review and update of the Raised Bog inventory for England, it has become apparent that Northumberland supports a large number of raised bogs sites which have received little or no previous attention or recognition.

Not only are there many sites, they are also relatively undamaged relative to similar sites elsewhere in the country.

In addition to raised bogs, some sites also support minerotrophic wetlands including calcareous fens, acidic fens and Molinia meadow vegetation, significantly increasing their national importance.

Fieldwork should be started as soon as possible, and final reports should be submitted by 15 March 2025.

This requirement is split into two lots.

The requirement for Lot 1 is to establish the extent and quality of raised bogs and other wetland habitats on a cluster of thirteen sites north of Bellingham.

The requirement for Lot 2 is to establish the extent and quality of raised bogs and other wetland habitats on a cluster of 10 sites in Sweethope, with the option to commission an additional cluster of 7 sites in the Gilsland/Haltwhistle area.

Supplier may bid for either or both Lot 1 and Lot 2.

Suppliers must bid for each Lot separately and each Lot will be evaluated independently.
