CEFAS22-59 RFQ for the provision vessel services to support a sediment sampling study (Northeast England)

Background to Requirement: Annual monitoring of a subset of dredged material disposal sites around the coast of England is conducted by Cefas for the licensing authority, the Marine Management Organisation.

Following a prioritisation process in early 2022, the North Tyne and Souter Point sites have been selected for assessment during the summer of 2022.

Due to their close proximity to each other, the two sites are to be sampled and treated as one survey.

Requirement: Cefas require a suitable vessel to carry out a short study (2 days of operations) of the North Tyne and Souter Point dredge disposal sites, capable of carrying two Cefas staff and deploying suitable equipment to support the survey requirements.

Sediment samples of the seabed will be taken using the vessel supplied grab (a Day grab) and/or Cefas' Shipek grab and a small sub-sample will be immediately frozen on the vessel.

There will be a requirement to wipe the grab bucket and sampling utensils with pentane (supplied by Cefas) between stations.
