The brief

Hampshire School Library Services (HSLS) is a sold service which provides advice and targeted stock selected by professional librarians to support learning in subscribing schools.

It is among the most successful School Library Services in the country.

As part of their subscription, schools have been able to access a range of children's eBooks via the HSLS platform and in addition buy titles through the same supplier for exclusive use by their own pupils.

This is described as a 'hub and spoke model'.

For the duration of their subscription, schools can access the HSLS stock contained in the 'hub' and retain ownership of any stock purchased direct through their own 'spoke' permanently.

The objectives of this procurement were: • To select a supplier who will provide a solution that is modern, easy to use and can age restrict eBook and eAudio titles to prevent access by pupils who are not of appropriate age • To select a supplier who will provide access to a broad range of fiction and non-fiction titles aimed at children and young adults in various formats • Include eResources (eMagazines and eComics) in the contract to enable schools to access all resources through one agreement • To select a supplier who seeks to constantly improve the service available to HSLS and Schools Please note, this is a Volume based contract up to £370,000 across the term length of the contract.
