Historic England (HE) is the public body that helps people care for, enjoy and celebrate England's spectacular historic environment.
A key part of this work is the support HE provides to both the heritage and adjacent sectors to develop capacity and skills, including within the construction sector whose workforce undertakes works on historic buildings.
A key area of work in this area is around the retrofit of England's historic building stock, where there is a severe shortage in the skills required within the construction sector to make appropriate interventions to traditionally constructed buildings.
We are therefore working to strengthen the qualifications and training landscape in this area.
This project seeks to commission editorial services and consultancy to support the development of a high-quality handbook for learners undertaking a core retrofit qualification for the historic environment.
