The brief

Kirklees Council are holding an Engagement Event for Alternative Provision Providers on 7/12/2022 Please see information regarding this event below: Following an independent review of Alternative Provision in 2021 and much feedback from across the system, we are pleased to now be in a position to move forward with a refreshed AP offer in Kirklees.

The vision around Alternative Provision in Kirklees is: • To develop a clear pathway of support, across a graduated response • Offer greater opportunities for early intervention • Ensure sufficiency of specialist places available • Deliver from settings across Kirklees ensuring a better geographical spread across the Local Authority.

We want to build on some of the strong Alternative Provision already in place and we anticipate that the new, improved pathway will be delivered by some of our existing providers, new providers, and the wider school system.

This piece of work sits within the wider context of the SEND Transformation Plan and will complement other solutions we have underway to address sufficiency of specialist places - such as the expansion of ARPs, developing Special School Satellite Provisions and the rebuild and expansion of two of our existing Special Schools.

We aim to co-design and co-produce true multi-agency partnerships, to deliver on the Our Kirklees Futures vision, enabling children, young people, and their families to access the services they need, where they need them and when they need them.

Engagement Event for current AP providers, potential new AP providers and the wider school system As part of a planned strategy of enabling more children and young people to thrive in local educational settings, we would like to take the opportunity to invite a wide range of partners to an Alternative Provision engagement event to be held on Wednesday 7 December from 3.00 pm for a 3.30 pm start until 5.00 pm in the Old Court Room at Huddersfield Town Hall.

There will be input in the session from Service Leads and procurement colleagues.

The purpose of this session is: • To outline our vision for the new Alternative Provision Pathway in Kirklees Council -based on the feedback you have given • To explain how you can support in delivering this vision, whether you are an existing AP provider in Kirklees, a new provider, a Multi Academy Trust or a School • To ensure partners are clear about what the procurement process entails, including timelines and next steps in the process.

To reserve your place on Wednesday 7 December, please e-mail: learningseniormanagementsupport@kirklees.gov.uk Should you be unable to attend our face-to-face event, there will also be a follow up event that will be held virtually on Wednesday 14 December, 3.30 pm - 5.00 pm https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/the-future-of-alternative-provision-in-kirklees-online-engagement-event-tickets-477263998467
