The brief

Bristol City Council is seeking to understand if there are interested parties for the provision of a way finding application for the provision of walking routes around the west of England (specifically Bristol) area.

We are seeking an app (essential) and web platform (not essential) that can be accessed on apple and android phone.

The application must be compatible with latest and most popular mobile devices (at least 3 latest OS versions) and GPS so users can access the mapping when they're out, with the option to centre the map on the current location The sought features of the application include: 1.

Active travel - the ability to pick points and get walking navigation routes, that can be followed online and offline, with route options such as: · the fastest walking route; · the greenest walking route; · ideally the possible pollution data (along a walking route).

Ability to include information on walk including: Walk Summary; Directions; Photos; Hazards; Legend and icons.

The app might need to cover the West of England (Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire and Bath and North East Somerset ) so will need to be able to incorporate data from that geographic area.

2.

Short walks- these will focus on a selection of short walks for Bristol (and the locality) based businesses and their staff for: · lunchtime walks; · walking meetings; · points of interest in city; · this could include walking routes to particular historical destinations or particular businesses.

3.

Event Functionality specifically for the Bristol Walk Fest, a citywide walking festival, to track and evaluate the event: · section to incorporate up to 6 walking categories; · possible ability to collect some demographic data; · short surveys for those taking part on walk routes; · monitoring of use i.e. during May's Walk Fest and then uses of other routes thereafter; · Links to other websites or apps i.e. associated groups; information access for points of interest.

4.

Walk for Health · This might be incorporated as we currently have various walk for health groups that might want to put specific walks on there that meet their guidelines for Walk for Health i.e. accessibility, gradient etc.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE EARLIER EXERCISE TO COLLATE EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY IS NOW ON HOLD UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE OR UPDATE.
