IMPERIAL WAR MUSEUM TRADING COMPANY LIMITED
Printing Services for Armitice Project: 14-18 NOW
This sits in the upper-middle of the Printed Matter & Publishing band — a substantial contract for the sector. Based on 2,467 valued Printed Matter & Publishing tenders in our corpus.
The Project 2018 marks the centenary of the end of the First World War and will be a major moment marked by national and international media throughout the year.
To mark the moment of Armistice 14-18 NOW is working with filmmaker Danny Boyle on a participation project that will involve members of the public from around the UK.
Our brief 14-18 NOW is looking to appoint a printing company with digital and lithographic capabilities who can work with our team to print and distribute materials that will be at the heart of the project.
The role is key to the success of the project.
The printing is large volume, variable content with a possible additional lithographic element.
The printing company will work closely with our digital agency to ensure the necessary software for printing our materials is embedded into the project website that the agency creates.
The company will also need to advise on how to get the best printed results for images that may be low resolution or reproducing originals of varying sizes that need to be standardized to A5 and formatted for print.
The company will need to be able to print on specialist environmentally friendly paper (water-soluble, that cannot be treated prior to print, uncoated and approx.150gsm) as specified by 14-18 NOW and using ink that matches specifications laid out by 14-18 NOW's environmental consultant.
The company will need to work with the clients to establish a distribution plan for the materials including a system for distributing different marked materials to different recipients.
The company will be responsible for distributing the final print materials to a number of addresses in advance of 11th November 2018.
There will be a tight turn around between the final deadline for supply of images to the printer and the delivery deadline and the printer must work with 14-18 NOW to determine the best way to manage the project.
It is expected that a total of between 500,000and 1,000,000 images will need to be delivered to some 25 - 50 different locations across the UK.
Response to the Brief Prospective printers are invited to submit proposals that detail: • Relevant experience giving examples of large scale and complex printing work undertaken • Relevant experience of time sensitive projects • Environmental credentials • Proposed costs to print 100,000 x A3 cut to A5 on digital press, and to print Litho 3/0 colour on paper supplied x A3 cut to A5 plus run-on costs. • Two appropriate referees • Complete the Company Questionnaire attached as Schedule 1 All tenders returns will be evaluated equally in accordance with the above criteria.
Shortlisted companies will be invited to meet with 14-18 NOW to discuss the project further.
