The brief

1.1 Combined, the four (4) Service Executives provide the common User service to run on Defence as a Platform (DaaP), transforming the MoD permanent ICT infrastructure, bringing it in line within modern commercial approaches.

Impacting every MoD employee (both in the UK and Overseas and across OFFICIAL, SECRET and Above Secret domains) providing them with access to modern applications and user devices - collectively known as MODNET.

1.2 Together, these Programmes will significantly increase the efficiency of MoD core business and acts as a key enabling component to maintain the MoD's ability to operate during this time of economic austerity.

1.3 Delivery and management of Services will involve a range of mandated in-house Security Assurance activities to ensure services are/remain compliant with policy and are deployed/managed without presenting undue risk to the security of sensitive MoD information.

Due to the contracted timelines of delivery and the ongoing management required, these activities must be completed against a pre-agreed schedule, to avoid MoD liability for significant financial penalties for delays.

Assurance of the Secret System will require in-depth security assurance as it needs to operate at the highest level of security.
