The brief

Over the coming 2 to 3 years, the University of Essex is investing in our estate infrastructure to ensure that our buildings operate safely, resiliently and efficiently for our students, staff and visitors.

The University requests expressions of interest from suitably qualified, accredited and experienced contractors to participate in a tender exercise for the creation of a procurement framework under which works and services will be sourced.

The framework period will be for 2 years, plus an option to extend for a further 12 months with a total maximum estimated value of £3.3m, if the extension option is exercised.

The successful Contractors will be required to provide comprehensive Mechanical and Electrical minor works and services capability, delivering works and services included within National Schedule of Rates 2016/17, as detailed in the draft tender specification.

LOT 1 - Mechanical and Associated Electrical Minor Works and Reactive Services Estimated Maximum Annual Value: £500,000 This lot will consist of 3 contractors delivering works and services up to a maximum value of approximately £100,000 GBP for any single requirement.

These works and services will consist of; Small Mechanical and Associated Electrical Works Projects.

Mechanical and Associated Electrical works as part of minor refurbishments.

Mechanical and Associated Electrical maintenance.

Urgent Mechanical and Associated Electrical works and repairs.

Minimum staff/subcontractor accreditation requirements are: a)the Water Industry Approved Plumbers Scheme (UK) WIAPS, or equivalent, and meet the requirements of The Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999. b)Gas Safe Registered https://www.gassaferegister.co.uk/ c)Electrical works and services = Staff must be accredited to NICEIC, or equivalent.
