Hand and upper limb transplantation is possible following cadaveric donation.
The surgery involved is extremely complex and recipients have, as with other cadaveric transplants, to take immunosuppressive drugs for life to prevent the transplanted organ being rejected.
This service provides assessment, transplantation and follow-up.
