The brief

The requirement of lightning protection works to be carried out at 3 sites, 1 visit to each site, to be conducted at 11 month intervals for the length of the contract; year 1 December, year 2 November, Year 3 October, etc.

Site addresses:- Site 1:- Hull Royal Infirmary, Anlaby Road, Hull, East Yorkshire HU3 2JZ Site 2:- Castle Hill Hospital, Castle Road, Cottingham, East Yorkshire HU16 5JQ Site 3:- Sterile Services, Unit 3-5 Harrow Street, Hull, East Yorkshire HU3 4BL The requirement must include 1 annual inspection of all lightening protection systems, located at the 3 sites as follows:- Engineers must report to site and receive any site specific safety information and permit to work.

Engineers must don all appropriate personal protective equipment; this must be provided by the supplier.

Engineers must cordon off the area and display danger signs whilst work is carried out.

The inspection must be carried out in accordance with BS EN 62305 and BS6651 standards.

Engineers must carry out a visual inspection of the lightning protection systems, recording all installation details.

Engineers must carry out an earth resistance test to each installation and record the reading(s) obtained.

In addition to this engineers must also carry out a combined earth resistance test to the whole system recording the readings obtained.

Engineers must clear down the site upon completion, leaving areas clean and tidy.

Engineers must provide 1 test certificate for each asset.

Engineers must also provide a written report of any defects found complete with photographic images.

Any defects found by the Engineers, a written quotation to rectify these defects to current BS standards must be provided and sent by the supplier directly to the Estate Manager.

All reports and test certificates must be passed onto the Estates Manager within two weeks of the site visit/inspection.
