BTP requires a single supplier to provide a tailored, end to end solution for all language service requirements 24 hours a day, 365 days a year: • Face to Face Interpretation Services (F2F) • Translation/Transcription Services (TMS) • Telephone Interpretation Services (TI) • British Sign Language (BSL) • Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) Provision of interpreters is governed by the Police and Criminal Evidence (PACE) 1984.
If a suspect requires an interpreter for interview or the taking of a statement BTP must arrange for one to be present.
The requirement shall also be available to victims of crime and witnesses and during daily / operational contact with members of the public as well as meet BTP's Welsh language translation (WLT) obligations.
As the contract will serve various business areas, in preparation for tendering, a number of business users and stakeholders have been consulted across B Division, C Division, Crime, Fatality Investigations, Justice, Custody, BTPA and Corporate Communications.
