The brief

The Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) has an existing Contract for a single provider of a custodial tenancy deposit protection scheme (hereafter referred to as “the Custodial Schemes”), which expires on 31 March 2016.

The current scheme holds (1m+) deposits worth in excess of (£900m).

DCLG are currently preparing to re-tender this provision with the intention that the new Contract(s) will be awarded by end July 2015.

As part of the re-procurement, DCLG will be seeking up to 5 providers for the Custodial Schemes and on a slightly different basis to the existing Contract.

DCLG will be seeking to award two types of Contract: 1.

One Contract for the management and future development of the existing legacy pool of deposits; and 2.

Up to four Contracts for Custodial Schemes just seeking to develop new business.

The legal support that is required under this Contract is in respect of this re-procurement.

This legal support requirement was tendered through Lot 6 of the Crown Commercial Service Legal Services Framework Agreement (RM919).
