Maintenance and Response Contract (M&R) 2

This notice relates to the replacement of the existing Maintenance and Response (M&R) contracts across the entire Strategic Road Network (SRN).

The M&R contracts support the effective operation, maintenance and resilience of the network.

Maintenance and Response 2 (M&R2) will cover the Strategic Road Network (SRN), which is one of the biggest and most important pieces of infrastructure in the country.

It comprises more than 4500 miles of motorways and major A roads which are at the core of our national transport system.

National Highways is looking for suitable contractors to provide and undertake: - Cyclic maintenance - Reactive maintenance - Incident response - Severe weather - Operational roadside technology - Asset renewal works Maintenance & Response 2 is possibly going to be divided into two tranches, that may further include lots, although we are unable to provide specifics at this point, as it will not be defined until post market engagement.

In the aggregate, the M&R2 contracts are estimated to have an overall value of £8bn, inclusive of contingency, with an anticipated, contract duration of 8 years.
