The brief

The University of Salford invites suitably qualified and experienced contractors to submit tenders for the inspection, testing, servicing, and maintenance of emergency lighting systems across the University estate.

This contract will be for 3 years with the option to extend a further 1 year subject to both parties agreeing.

The appointed contractor must comply with all relevant UK legislation, including: • Health and Safety at Work etc.

Act 1974 • Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 • BS 5266 series for emergency lighting • Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 • Procurement rules under the Procurement Act 2023 • IET Wiring Regs BS 7671 Scope of Works The contractor will be responsible for: a) Routine inspection and testing of emergency lighting systems b) Rectification of faults subject to approval from the University. c) Planned preventive maintenance (PPM) in accordance to SFG20 schedules d) Asset tagging and register update with photographs of each asset e) Reporting and certification in accordance with current British Standards Types of systems include (but are not limited to): a) Self-contained (single point) luminaires b) Central battery systems c) Emergency conversion kits d) Maintained and non-maintained units e) Exit signage
