Provision of Trial Equipment for an Automated Vehicle Gauging System

London Underground (LU) is seeking to procure train gauging measurement systems to measure the following aspects of it's Rolling Stock: • Thermal imaging - to identify issues with overheating components including but not limited to; brake resistors, bearings, traction equipment, HVAC, brake blocks, wheel pans, bearings, traction motors, gearboxes etc. • Video imaging - to identify issues with out of gauge elements on the rolling stock including but not limited to; graffiti, broken windows, missing / misaligned equipment cover panels, missing / damaged collector shoes (both 3rd and 4th rail shoe gear), damage to under frame equipment e.g. from ballast strike or striking from foreign objects etc.
The imaging capability should cover both sides of the vehicle, under frame and roof, and identify the individual vehicle by unit number(s).
It is expected to trial the equipment at 2 locations for a period of between 6 - 12 months and the equipment shall work for multiple unit and single unit train configurations.
The solution shall capture and store images with included data quality flags (e.g. time/date stamp etc.).
Images shall then be processed using Machine Learning / Artificial Intelligence (ML/AI) to identify defects for the attention of maintenance staff.
For the duration of the trial, the post capture images shall be made available to view via a web based portal, accessible from the TfL Corporate network and TfL computers (laptop, desktop, thin client, tablet and mobile devices).
All data captured during the trial shall remain the property of TfL and not be available to suppliers to further develop their system(s) without prior consent.
Upon completion of the trial, TfL may proceed to full procurement of the successful product.
