The brief

The design and manufacture of a Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) Spectroscopy System.

High level functional requirements as per below: 1.

The FTIR equipment shall be capable of measuring the corrosion thickness on samples up to 10 µm.

2.

The FTIR rig shall be operated remotely.

3.

The FTIR equipment shall be capable of being operated in conjunction with an XY table, allowing the complete area of the sample to pass over the FTIR sampling area.

4.

The probe head of the FTIR equipment must protrude from the end of the spiral wall plug to which it is fitted in order to allow the sample to be presented up to the probe with a clearance of 0.4mm +/- 0.1mm.

5.

The probe head of the FTIR equipment shall be protected from damage that samples being pushed against it could cause.

6.

The FTIR equipment shall include a desktop computer and software to support the analysis and display the results from the FTIR equipment.

7.

The FTIR equipment shall be designed to withstand the in-cell environment. • Radiation In-cave: 30Gy/hour at 30cmo Out-of-cave: 10µGy/hour at 30cm • Temperature In-cave: 5°C to 45°Co Out-of-cave: 5°C to 35°C• All equipment shall operate in relative humidity of5% to 95% non-condensing. • All equipment shall operate at atmospheric pressure.
