This is a large award for Education & Training — above three-quarters of comparable contracts. Based on 23,516 valued Education & Training tenders in our corpus.
The Live Fire Monitoring Equipment (LFME) has been in service with the British Army since 1991, with a continued requirement for support from 1 April 2027.
The Synthetic Environments & Training Portfolio within the National Armaments Director (NAD) Group therefore intends to place a follow-on contract for its provision and support.
LFME is highly specialised and fully integrated with Challenger 2 (CR2) platforms, enabling Individual and Collective Training at Levels 1 and 2, and supporting progression to the Annual Crew Test (ACT) and Annual Troop Assessment (ATA).
The current Contractor Logistic Support (CLS), Post Design Services (PDS), and obsolescence management contract will expire on 31 March 2027.
The proposed follow-on contract will commence on 1 April 2027 for an initial period of one (1) year, with options to extend for up to four (4) additional years.
The estimated total contract value is £4.5 million (excluding VAT), inclusive of all option periods.
The requirement is classified as a Category D project and will be governed under the Single Source Contract Regulations (SSCR) 2014.
The requirement will be delivered via a Direct Award to KNDS Deutschland GmbH & Co.
KG (KNDS) in accordance with Section 41 of the Procurement Act 2023, where the criteria under paragraph 6 of Schedule 5 are met.
This reflects KNDS’s position as the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and incumbent provider.
Contract placement will be undertaken through an Invitation to Negotiate (ITN), supported by detailed evaluation and negotiation activities.
