The brief

Birmingham City Council (the Council) wishes to establish a contract for the repair to the roof and structures of the Gala Pool at Moseley Road Baths.

Moseley Road Baths is Grade II* listed.

They were built in 1907, in an Edwardian style, with the main Gala Pool having been closed for a number of years. (The other pool remains open to the public).

This project will include re-roofing the Gala Pool and full structural repairs of the roof to prevent further deterioration of this area.

The main works to the Gala Pool will include scaffolding, replacement of the existing roof, 'like for like', replacement of the rainwater goods, new clerestory windows, repair to the steel structure, repairs to the timber roof structure, replacement boarding to the underside of the roof and the redecoration of handrails on the balcony.

The Principal Contractor shall coordinate the works, employ surveyors as domestic sub-contractors and be responsible for the safe execution of the works in its entirety.

The proposed contract will last for the period of the project (unless terminated under the terms and conditions of contract).
