The brief

The London Violence Reduction Unit wishes to commission a Research Partner to deliver a Pan-London Strategic Needs Assessment of Violence (SNA).

The SNA will draw on information and intelligence across partner organisations, conducting a thematic analysis of the first iteration of 32 Local Authority level Strategic Needs Assessments, delivered in line with the Serious Violence Duty.

Drawing on the VRU's objectives and priority areas and supplemented with analysis of pan-London crime and public health trends, the output will increase understanding of the types, distribution and extent of violence across the capital.

The SNA's findings will be used by the VRU and partners to inform a strategy containing specific recommendations for action.

The Research Partner will design and deliver a high-quality research project that: - Updates the understanding of violence in London - Highlights what works to prevent and reduce violence in London - Supports the VRU and partners to respond to violence in London The maximum budget for the evaluation is £75,000 ex VAT over 6 months.

Eligibility/core capabilities of the provider: • The ability to apply strong mixed methods research skills to analyse complex data within the fields of violence, crime and wider public health. • Strong understanding and demonstrable experience of public health approaches to violence reduction. • The ability to build strong relationships and collaborate with stakeholders at many levels. • Capacity to meet the stated timeframes through having existing, appropriately skilled, competent, and resourced staff in place. • Strong data protection systems and processes, including the handling sensitive data.
