The brief

Wolverhampton Grand Theatre is one of the leading theatre's in the Midlands.

It is currently preparing for the reduction in grant funding received from Wolverhampton City Council which will result in a zero grant by 2018.

It is therefore considered essential that investment is made in order to increase the future revenue, foot fall and job creation/expansion of the theatre.

The front of house area was last upgraded in the 1990s and is now considered to be dated, uninviting and it does not make good use of the space in light of the new demands being placed on it.

The new plans will transform the front of house space, maximising its potential to become a city destination and a theatre of choice within the West Midlands and beyond.

It will provide more social seating and a more welcoming atmosphere to encourage the public to use the facilities both during the day outside of normal operating times, as well as immediately before, during and after performances.

It is anticipated that the investment will increase secondary spend revenue by circa £100,000 in the first year, increasing by a further 20% year on year thereafter.

It will also improve the customer experience, and allow the Theatre to develop the programme to a new audience base within the local community through more intimate, small scale performances.
