The brief

The London Borough of Waltham Forest seeks to commission Carers Support Services.

The new service will be based on three key elements of carers support, which includes outreach, advocacy and well-being.

Outreach and Advocacy Services will be combined in the form of neighbourhood advocates who will work within localities to signpost carers to local services and provide practical support..

Well-being sessions will take the form of peer lead support groups, information and training sessions.

It is the intention of the council to award the contract for the period of 2 years with an option to extend for a further one year period.

The contract will be divided into two separate lots: Lot 1: Neighbourhood outreach and advocacy Lot 2: Well-being sessions The total value of the contract is £174,000 p/a Objectives for the commissioned service: • To increase the number of carers identified and registered in Waltham Forest • Reduce the number of carers reporting poor health and well-being outcomes • Improved access to information, advice and support facilities within the Community, Social Care and Health. • Carers able to build formal and informal networks to support them in their caring role • Local employers recognising and promoting the role of the carers within their organisations • Carers supported to make individual choices about the services they wish to receive. • Carers informed about their rights and accessing their entitlements.
