In November 2017, the telecoms industry announced an intention to withdraw services based on old analogue networks, specifically the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) and the Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN).
SFRS currently use these services extensively for delivery of 999 telephony, corporate telephony, and operational mobilisation.
Services being withdrawn by this initiative will be replaced by digital alternatives based on a modern fibre infrastructure.
