Teacher development programme to develop pedagogy that enables students to acquire knowledge in science and geography through critical use of evidence and argument that leads to improved engagement and attainment.
The programme involves: initial planning sessions, supported classroom project phase, CPD session to share practice, access to a range of resources and online network space and networks for further development and cascade.
Delivered by national subject experts, alongside school-based CPD leaders, within school-based networks comprising geography and science teachers from primary and secondary schools.
Programme includes: • 2 days of CPD (initial planning session, focussing on specialist classroom pedagogies; and a concluding session with peer and expert challenge); • Individual mentoring; and • Supported classroom project (apply an aspect of specialist pedagogy to teachers' own classrooms, with time for planning and refining teaching and assessing impact over a school term).
