The brief

The West Yorkshire Combined Authority (CA), and its predecessors had conducted a residents' perceptions of transport survey since 2003.

The CA has now appointed a Consultant for a further three annual waves of the survey.

The principal aim of the survey is to provide high-level views of public perceptions and attitudes to transport to inform strategic and operational decision-making across West Yorkshire (which consists of Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield).

The survey complements other existing transport surveys such as the National Highways and Transportation Survey (NHT), the Transport Focus User Surveys such as, Your Bus Journey, and the Department for Transport (DfT) National Travel Survey.

As such, this survey will concentrate on obtaining views not already available at West Yorkshire Combined Authority or District Council level from residents aged 16 and over.

The survey will build upon an existing time series, which is one of the main strengths of this dataset, along with some evolution to fit evolving roles and responsibilities of the CA.
