The brief

Following an Army Basing Review undertaken by the Ministry of Defence (MOD) in March 2003, it has been decided by the MOD that the Brigade Headquarters of the British Army Reaction Force is to be relocated to the Salisbury Plain Training Area with three Armoured Infantry Brigades.

As a consequence, an additional 4,000 military personnel and their families will be relocated to Tidworth, Ludgershall, Bulford and Larkhill.

This process has already started and is due to be completed in circa 2019.

A major implication of this Army re-basing programme is that additional facilities such as Schools, Housing, Leisure Facilities, Health and Social Services need to be provided to meet the increase in population in the affected areas.

Within the Ludgershall area, it has been identified that there is a need for the development of a new two form entry primary school including a thirty-place nursery to be located on a circa 2.3-hectare parcel of land provided by the MOD via a Section 106 Agreement within the site of the former Corruna Barracks in Ludgershall.

The requirement is that the new school and nursery is operationally ready to accept pupils by September 2019 which is the purpose of this tender opportunity.
