The brief

Essex County Council (ECC) is looking for suitably experienced providers to deliver a county-wide Essex Lifestyle Service.

Key themes of the procurement will be to work closely with the voluntary sector to provide integrated social prescribing, and an individual lifestyle support service.

The provider will work specifically with clients from disadvantaged communities and certain population groups in order to initiate the action required to encourage and enable those individuals to improve their health.

The service will also concentrate on reducing the number of people in Essex who smoke as a result of the Stop Smoking Support Service.

This will be achieved by: - Achieving an agreed number of people who stop smoking - Targeted delivery of services - Acting as lead provider for subcontracted services including GP's and Pharmacies - Providing stop smoking education - Working closely with Acute Hospital Trusts - Providing training, advice and equipment - Contributing to a multi-agency approach focussing on tobacco control and the reduction of smoking prevalence. - Taking account of recent changes in behaviours, increased use of E cigarettes and adopting a harm reduction approach The contract duration will be 5 years (60 months) with a maximum available budget of £2.3m per annum.

This tender will follow an open, single stage process with a contract commencement date of 1 April 2016.
