Defra has awarded a contract to an organisation to update the 'Code of Practice on Litter and Refuse'.
The Code of Practice on Litter and Refuse was last updated several years ago.
It now needs refreshing in order to update references to old legislation and reflect the changed technological, economic and social environment in which Land-Managers now operate.
There is also concern that some of the standards described in the Code of Practice may need clarification, particularly in relation to land with 'special circumstances'.
It is expected that this project will consist of the following (which can be aligned with milestones payments) - desk-based research - engagement with stakeholders and - production of a revised Code The project will commence in June 2023 and run for four months.
