When this comes round again

Defence Science and Technology Laboratory publishes Research & Development work continuously — 707 notices, roughly one every 1 day. This is a stream to watch, not a cycle to wait for.

30% of Defence Science and Technology Laboratory’s awards go to a supplier it has used before.

Which is the argument for getting on the list rather than winning this one. The incumbent is rarely the last winner — it is the roster. See the retention odds by category →

The brief

Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) and Agence de l'innovation de défense (AID) are jointly launching a call for expressions of interest (EOI) aimed at identifying French Universities and Public Laboratories and British Universities who can address scientific questions raised in the field of 4D printing.

The aim is to accelerate the use of intelligent 3D printed materials through design, manufacturing and modelling to provide intelligent or animated components for self-adaptive platforms.

Despite the potential benefits of 4D printing, many challenges remain before it can be widely applied.
