The project is funded with the support of 2014-2020 European Structural Investment Funds (ESIF) specifically European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMMF) Project overview: This research project will track and record the movements of fish and crustaceans in UK waters using acoustic telemetry equipment including coded transmitters, acoustic receivers and buoyant remote released moorings.

Equipment needs: We require the supply of the following: 120 x Vemco V7 (or equivalent) programmable coded acoustic tags transmitting at 69 kHz and no larger than 7 mm in diameter with expected battery life >250 days 30 x Vemco V7P (or equivalent) programmable coded acoustic tags with pressure sensor transmitting at 69 kHz and no larger than 7 mm in diameter 4 x Vemco VR2W (or equivalent) coded underwater receiver detecting transmissions at 69 kHz and including batteries 18 x Vemco VR2AR (or equivalent) coded underwater receiver with acoustic release detecting transmissions at 69 kHz and including batteries 18 x Acoustic release canister (or equivalent) including rope and floats to contain acoustic release receiver and enable remote recovery of receivers to the surface Technical compatibility requirements: The equipment must be compatible with existing acoustic telemetry equipment (manufactured by Vemco) that is currently deployed and operational through a separate project.

The transmitters must be detectable by our existing VR2W (69 kHz) receivers and our existing Vemco VR100 omni-directional hydrophone.

Equipment delivery date: The equipment is required for deployment starting April 30th 2019 and must be provided at least two weeks prior to field deployment to avoid any delays to project progress.
