The brief

For the avoidance of doubt this is not a Call for Competition – this is to initiate a Market Engagement / Soft Market Testing Process to inform future commissioning requirements.

Staffordshire County Council (SCC) aims to commission affordable community short stay and Carer break provision and choices for older people and their family/Carers through community based personalised services that are local, accessible, convenient, effective and affordable.

Staffordshire County Council is looking to explore potential (planned and emergency) short stay and regular residential respite provision in the Districts of Newcastle under Lyme and Staffordshire Moorlands and surrounding areas.

Short Stay Respite Care – short term care for upto a maximum duration of six weeks to meet a specific need such as: • Where the Service User’s Carer requires a break • To provide cover for a Service User’s Carer in the event of either illness, stress or the admission to hospital of the Carer in question; • To rehabilitate a Service User to prepare them for their return home from hospital.

Regular Respite Care – where regular breaks or phased periods of care are necessary, upto a maximum of six weeks, for a Service User in order to either sustain their capacity for living, or to maintain their quality of life and ability to live in the community without excessive hardship.

Providers are invited to complete the below short questionnaire and return to Cate Crawford cate.crawford@staffordshire.gov.uk by 12 noon on Friday 10th June 2016 to assist in the Soft Market Testing process.

Please note your response will not be scored in anyway.

This is an information gathering exercise and is not a pre-qualification process.
