The brief

This is a Contract Award Notice to communicate a contract award made by the Contracting Authority; NHS Mid and South Essex Integrated Care Board, (hereinafter referred to as "the Authority") in compliance with their local standing financial instructions (SFIs).

The contract award is made to Skin Analytics for provision of Teledermatology Services for suspected cancer referrals across Mid and South Essex.

The contract term is for 9 months, commencing 01st July 2022 and expiring on 31st March 2023, at a total aggregate Contract Value of £111,375.

The Service: The service is currently used by 44 of the 150 GP Practices across the system, which is 29%.

The skin analytics pathway is a pre-referral pathway service, which involves image capture of suspected cancerous lesions within primary care using an iPhone with dermatascope attachment, the lesion is then assessed by artificial intelligence whereby if suspicious this is returned to the GP/HCP instantly to be referred on a 2 wait week referral to secondary care.

If lesion is suspected benign then this is reviewed by a Skin Analytics consultant Dermatologist and returned to the GP/HCP within two working days with referral action or advice.

During the period April 21 - Feb 22 there were 13,853 2ww skin referrals into the Trust from GP practices across Mid and South Essex.

During the period April 21 - March 22, Skin Analytics have undertaken 3,758 assessments with; 49% of patients (1,841) being recommended to be referred on a 2ww pathway, 10% (376) being recommended to be referred on a routine pathway to secondary care, 7% (263) being recommended to be treated within primary or community care with 29% (1,090) being discharged from primary care.

The award is a short term, non recurrent award by the Authority for a total term of 9 months at an aggregate value of £111,375.00 Sterling.

The Authority is publishing this Contract Award Notice in the Contracts Finder in accordance with the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 (as amended by The Public Procurement (Amendment etc.) (EU Exit) Regulations 2020) for spend above £25,000.

The Services in scope of this Contract Award Notice fall within 'social and other specific services' within the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 (as amended by The Public Procurement (Amendment etc.) (EU Exit) Regulations 2020), but the total contract value does not exceed the current threshold of £663,540.
