The brief

Mercia Jobcentre Plus District intends to use FSF to fund this proposed provision, which will provide in-depth job-search skills to pre and post-Work Programme claimants who are aged 50+ and require support to re-enter the labour market.

Income Support (IS), Universal Credit (UC) and Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) claimants will be able to access the provision.

In addition, the provision will be available to partners (aged 50 plus) of IS, JSA or UC claimants who have been claiming for 13 weeks or longer (who by returning to employment would enable the IS, JSA or UC claimant to close his/her claim.) Claimants aged 50+ may have been in an established role or industry for an extended period of time and therefore need support to develop up-to-date job-seeking skills.

In addition the provision should include support with identifying transferable skills, developing self-esteem, motivation and addressing negative perceptions regarding age.
