Inclusive Engineering Outcomes Project - Early Engagement
The Royal Academy of Engineering brings together a community of leaders from every part of engineering and technology through our Fellowship and awardee community in academia and industry; and through our regional, national and equitable global partnerships.
We are the UK's National Academy promoting engineers and engineering through our work in policy, education, enterprise and as global funders of research and innovation (R&I).
As funders of research and together with the EPSRC, it is our responsibility to support and build an inclusive R&I ecosystem.
Good engineering involves inclusive inputs which includes a diverse and representative research community, an equitable system, and a willingness to collaborate with multiple stakeholders; inclusive outputs are products or services that are accessible and inclusive of all users - accessible for everyone.
In addition to inclusive inputs and outputs as funders of R&I the Academy aims to embed inclusive engineering outcomes for all, by considering at each stage of the research process the effects that the product or service has on the world and how to mitigate any unintended consequences.
This study looks at how we enable inclusive engineering outcomes in the research that we fund, looking for evidence as to the effectiveness of different inputs and outputs in delivering them.
As part of our consultation, we are inviting interested suppliers to attend an early engagement event via Zoom taking place 10:00 - 11:30 on Friday 17 November 2023.
We will present a brief introduction to the Academy an introduction to Inclusive Engineering and outline the aims and objectives of the Research Brief; encouraging questions, feedback and comments from interested suppliers.
Based on the feedback we will finalise the full Research Brief and call for supplies to submit a proposal to undertake the study.
Contact Cath Thums cath.thums@raeng.org.uk to express your interest to attend, receive more information and the Zoom link.
If you cannot attend but are still interested in the opportunity we'd still like to hear from you.
