The brief

Cambridge City Council supports the resettlement of refugees under various schemes.

These include but are not limited to: Afghan Citizens Resettlement Scheme (ACRS), Afghan Relocations and Assistant Policy (ARAP), UK Resettlement Scheme (UKRS), and Homes for Ukraine.

We require a supplier to furnish homes for refugees.

You will be responsible for sourcing, delivering, and installing all furniture, soft furnishings such as mattresses and linen, white goods, crockery, kitchen utensils, window coverings, and all other items included on the below inventory.

All items must be in new condition, meet UK health and safety requirements, and be suitable for families with young children.

Items will need to be delivered on agreed dates and placed in the correct locations.

White goods such as cookers and washing machines should also be installed.

Gas appliances must be installed by a registered Gas Safe tradesperson and certification must be provided.

Qualified plumbers and electricians will also be required, and any other relevant certification must be provided.

Due to the limited notice we are provided of refugee arrivals, you will be required to mobilise quickly and furnish homes within 10-working days of notification.

To reduce pressure on your time as the supplier, and our officers time, it is required that most items will be delivered and installed on the same day.

The size of properties will vary but will be mostly family homes.

Our responsibilities to different refugee groups varies and there may on occasion be a requirement to provide specific items, or only window coverings.

We would require the supplier to be flexible to this.
