The brief

Delivery of a carriageway resurfacing scheme on a 4.35km section of the A4 Annaghilla Road, between Ballygawley and Augher.

The scheme comprises the milling and removal of the existing surface course and binder course with the construction of a new Hot Rolled Asphalt (HRA) surface course.

Existing carriageway levels and profiles are to be maintained throughout the works.

The extent of the works is generally confined to the existing carriageway footprint.

The works may also include regulation of existing pavement layers and/or localised replacement of the binder course where identified within the contract documents.

The objective of the project is to restore the structural and functional condition of the carriageway through the replacement of the existing deteriorated surfacing while maintaining the existing road geometry and levels.

The successful Contractor will be required to undertake all construction activities necessary to complete the resurfacing works, including traffic management, milling, pavement repairs, surfacing operations, iron work reinstatement, road markings, associated ancillary works and all testing and quality assurance requirements specified within the contract documentation.

The contract will be delivered under the NEC4 Engineering and Construction Contract (ECC) Option B.
