When this comes round again

North Yorkshire County Council publishes Health & Social Care work continuously — 72 notices, roughly one every 24 days. This is a stream to watch, not a cycle to wait for.

11% of North Yorkshire County Council’s awards go to a supplier it has used before.

Which is the argument for getting on the list rather than winning this one. The incumbent is rarely the last winner — it is the roster. See the retention odds by category →

The brief

North Yorkshire County Council (NYCC) and City of York Council (CYC) currently, separately, commission Domestic Abuse Refuge provision across North Yorkshire and York.

These are specialist services providing accommodation and housing related support to enable victims/survivors and their families experiencing or at risk of domestic abuse to make informed choices about their safety, health, housing and any other identified outcome needs.

The Refuge service provides short-term accommodation with support to females (16+ years old) fleeing domestic abuse who may be single women or women with dependent children.

Dependent male children up to the age of sixteen can be accommodated with their families.

Due to the dispersed nature of the provision in Scarborough/Ryedale it is also possible for male victims to be supported.

It has been agreed that, in order to increase efficiency and reduce duplication, the Domestic Abuse Joint Co-ordinating group (DAJCG) will lead on co-ordinating a multi-agency approach to domestic abuse arrangements across North Yorkshire and York.

A joint commissioning sub-group of the DAJCG has been established to explore options to facilitate joint future commissioning of all domestic abuse victims and perpetrator services.

NYCC are the lead commissioner for this provision across North Yorkshire & York.
